Privacy policy

Effective 27 October 2026. Applies to the Trip Spending app for iPhone and Android.

In short: your trips stay on your phone. The app has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and we do not receive any of your data.

What the app stores

The trips, traveller names and expenses you enter, and the most recently downloaded exchange rates. All of it is saved only on your device, in the app's own storage. It is not sent to us or to anyone else.

Internet use

The app connects to the internet for one thing: downloading exchange rates from ExchangeRate-API (open.er-api.com). The request asks for the current rates against the Hong Kong dollar and contains nothing you have entered. As with any internet request, that service can see your device's IP address; its own terms describe how it handles this.

Receipt scanning

When you scan a receipt, the app uses the camera to take one photo. The photo is read on your phone by the phone's own text recognition (Apple's Vision on iPhone, Google's ML Kit through Google Play services on Android), only the total is kept, and the photo is deleted straight away. The photo and its text are not sent to us or to anyone else. On Android, ML Kit sends Google diagnostic information to keep it working, such as the phone model, Android version, app version, how long reading took and error codes, but not the photo or its text; see Google's ML Kit data disclosure.

Excel reports

When you tap Export to Excel, the app creates the file on your phone and opens the system share sheet. The file goes only where you choose to send or save it.

What we collect

Nothing. We do not collect, store or share personal data, and the app contains no third-party analytics or advertising code.

Deleting your data

Delete a trip in the app, or delete the app to remove everything it stored.

Children

The app collects no data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
